Social Media Advertising in 2022 Part 3: The Different Types of Social Media Marketing

Social Media Advertising in 2022 Part 3: The Different Types of Social Media Marketing

Traditionally, advertising was delivered through billboards and magazines. Now, there are many more methods of advertising available. As advertising evolves in the digital age, there is a buffet of choices. Each has its own distinct strengths and limitations.

This is part three of our four-part journey covering everything you need to know about social media advertising in 2022, from managing your campaign, building a creative strategy, the types of social media marketing, and the top-performing social media platforms.

This part covers the different types of social media marketing. Let’s begin.

1. Video Ads

Video ads are the most common type of advertising on social networks. They can be placed in three different areas.

In-stream ads appear in the feeds of users. These ads are automatically played when the user scrolls past them. In-feed ads appear as a static image within the feed. In-video ads play before the video starts.

But, in-stream and in-feed advertising aren’t always appropriate for certain brands. So, you’ll want to consider the production and distribution of your video ad.

2. Photo Ads

Many social networks, such as Instagram and Pinterest, have photo-centric environments. However, companies use photos to supplement their video ads on Facebook and YouTube. Additionally, Instagram provides users with the option to add a link to their profile page. This practice is known as a link in bio.

Consequently, businesses should consider adding photos to their campaign. They can be used in conjunction with video to increase their reach.

3. Stories Ads

Stories ads are a new type of ad. They let you promote your business in a new, interactive way. But, they’re not available on every social network. Instagram stories are available on both iOS and Android, but Snapchat stories are only available on iOS.

Because stories ads are relatively new, we cannot say how businesses will use them in the future. But, they could become a prime location for companies to post content similar to a Facebook page.

4. Messenger Ads

The Facebook Messenger platform allows companies to post ads alongside users’ conversations. These ads can be tailored to specific audiences, such as those already engaged with the company. Messenger ads are currently only available on iOS.

Similar to stories ads, it is difficult to predict how businesses use messenger ads. But, they could be used as another medium for businesses to communicate with their customers.

Promoting on Social Media Platforms

In the digital age, there are many places to promote your business. Each platform has its own distinct advantages and disadvantages. Part four of our four-part journey covers everything you need to know about social media advertising in 2022, from managing your campaign, building a creative strategy, the types of social media marketing, and examples of social media platforms.

Conclusion

The way that businesses use social media is constantly changing. As the industry grows, companies must continually adapt and evolve to meet their customers’ needs.

But, there isn’t always a single answer. Companies must consider their brand when selecting the appropriate social network. Some platforms may be more desirable than others. Additionally, businesses must consider the type of content they want to post. This will depend on the social network that they choose.

There is no one-size-fits-all solution. However, businesses can learn to find the right social network for their brand with the right strategy.
